Background:
The Company is a very well established West Country fish wholesaler and retailer. Established approximately 27 years ago, the Business supplies fish and seafood through a combination of trade and direct-to-consumer channels.
The Company serves restaurants, fish merchants, most of the wholesale fish markets around the UK and Scotland (i.e. Billingsgate market in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Fleetwood, Liverpool, Hull etc and most of the south coast Southampton etc) together with top end fish shops around the UK (i.e. Chelsea, Notting Hill, Mayfair etc.) In addition, the Company operates an online fish site where people can order fish and receive deliveries the next day to anywhere in the UK. At the Company's premises is a very well-established fish deli shop open to the public 5 days a week.
This mix of routes to market provides an established trading platform with opportunities for a purchaser to develop both wholesale relationships and direct retail sales. More relaxed trading rules with Europe in 2027 will also increase the opportunities for sales in France and Spain.
For the year ended 30 June 2025, the Company generated turnover of £2.394 million and gross profit of £528,261, with an Adjusted EBITDA before drawings of £164,000. The vendor has indicated a willingness to remain as a consultant for up to two years, offering potential continuity during a transition to new ownership. Assuming a £40,000 consultancy to the vendor, leaves a buyer with a sustainable EBITDA of £124,000.
This opportunity will appeal to trade operators in seafood distribution, foodservice wholesalers, regional food businesses and owner-managers seeking an established west country food business.
