Business Details

Business simulation technology company with licence income and international clients

Our client develops and licenses business simulations used by business schools, training companies and large employers in the UK and overseas. Founded in 2008, the company has built a portfolio of 23 simulations covering leadership, management, finance and complex sales, all running on the same technology platform.

Highlights

  • Turnover of £400,759 in FY2026
  • Adjusted profit of £148,031
  • £155,103 invoiced or booked since 1 August 2026
  • 74% of revenue from licence fees
  • 95% of FY2026 revenue from clients that bought in each of the last three years
  • Long-standing relationships with leading international business schools and major corporate clients
  • 23 simulation titles on one platform
  • Products available in 12 languages, with others easily added
  • 12 training and consulting firms use the products internationally
  • £77,737 cash at year end with no debt
  • No dedicated sales team and only £1,854 spent on marketing in FY2026

Products and platform

The simulations put participants into realistic business situations where they make decisions and see the consequences of their choices. Sessions can be delivered in person or online and are normally run by trained facilitators.

The portfolio covers leadership, stakeholder management, finance and business acumen, complex sales and custom-built simulations. Because the products use the same platform, existing simulations can be adapted for different clients without rebuilding the underlying software.

Clients and revenue

Revenue comes from business schools, training companies and direct corporate clients. The business has a strong repeat-client base, with several major relationships dating back many years.

Most revenue comes from licence fees charged when simulations are used. The company also earns income from developing new simulations for individual clients.

Operations

The founders currently manage the main commercial and product responsibilities, but neither needs to attend individual sessions. Clients and training firms use their own facilitators, while an established technical team maintains the platform and supports users.

Opportunities

The company has reached its current scale without a dedicated sales team and with very little marketing spend.

A new owner could grow the business by selling more products to existing clients, recruiting additional training and distribution firms, developing further custom simulations, expanding internationally and building a structured sales and marketing operation.

There is also scope to develop the platform further using AI and to generate more enquiries through organic search.

The founders wish to hand over the business to a new owner and are open to agreeing suitable handover arrangements.

Please enquire about this business at your earliest opportunity.
