I’ve run this business for 9 years now, starting off at 20 years old, I began repairing phones from my family home for the local community. Soon gained traction and it became my full time job after 2 months. Started off booking customers in for repairs through my business page on Facebook, they’d message the page for quote to repair their device and then come to the house to drop their phone off and collect it later.
During covid I had to change the model. I introduced a contact free drop off system, set up a drop off area outside the house. This streamlined processes significantly, now instead of booking customers in and answering the door to them to hand me the device. I send them the drop off details, they drop the device off at their earliest convenience, I repair the device and then deliver it back to their address (usually within an hour for most repair).
Customers love the drop off process, lots of compliments of how easy and efficient it is to use, as is reflected in our online reviews (over 600 5 star reviews across trustpilot, Google and Facebook). This model is great because it meant I could expand the business with very low risk and zero overheads.
I bought a property in the next town and put a drop off area at this address, now I can “be in two places at once”. I do the repairs and then deliver back to the customer myself or sometimes will have a delivery driver help me out when needed.
