I have been growing the gardening business for around 3 years, and it is now at the point of expansion, and uplift of fees, which is due, as I have not raised them since the start.
The business supports 2 mostly full time people and a few casual ones too.
Obviously much busier in the summer months, with longer days, but there is still so much to do in the winter, with autumn for cutting back and removal of stubborn weeds, and spring for bulbs and planting.
I have never offered mowing or hedge cutting, by offering these services, fees could go up significantly with many more hours work with it.
There are about 30 regular customers, needing work every week, and have their own day and time slots, (usually needing about 4-6 hours per week/fortnight each), and a further 30 who are less regular, and some who only need holiday garden care.
All customers are friendly and always happy to see us! Most offering hot or cold drinks, cake, biscuits etc. as we work. Most pay on the day, or before the next visit, I never have a problem getting paid. Never.
No two weeks are the same.
Who doesnt like copious amounts of fresh air and the birds singing all day long? I dont work in the rain, customers understand this, and happily reschedule.
