With a very well established business of over 50 clubs in the UK, art-K is the leading OFSTED regulated after-school art club with over 7000 children a week attending our clubs.
With several different Franchise options, starting from £5000 plus VAT, there is full set-up support with the franchise and the potential to fund the franchise via The Government Start Up Loan Scheme. This is an excellent business opportunity for people with art experience, and a passion for art and child education.
Being a commercial business, the teaching, and the children’s and parent’s experience is what makes the classes sustainable. Every other pressure and legal responsibility is carefully managed to ensure nothing comes between the franchisee and the pleasure of teaching art.
What makes art-K different?
We are not a ‘leave them to play’ kind of business, we are serious about the enjoyment art can bring to our students, their parents, and to our franchisees. We believe that helping children build a foundation of skills is the key part of what we do. art-K is not just about art, it is also about building confidence, community and developing life skills in a creative and nurturing way.
art-K is operating in a large and well established market where suppliers need to differentiate themselves to stand out, and art-K stands out by turning teaching on its head for the benefit of the child’s experience. Instead of broadcasting one project to all abilities, with the resulting frustrations, art-K has a pre-planned personalised programmes; delving into individual student’s art development, from 6 to 18 years old! This individual approach taken at art-K works best with a wider age and ability range, as our objective is that no two students have the same project within a group, reducing any competitiveness within the studio.
With small teacher to student ratios, teachers are able to spend quality coaching time with each student, as well as moving freely around cultivating creativity around the studio as students create independently. As the projects become familiar to the teachers, guidance on what to do next becomes second nature, although support always readily available! Parents won’t find this unique service anywhere else, because the effort required to come up with these enjoyable projects with a purpose for different ages and abilities is huge; and that work has already been done for you! For the owner of an art-K business who is dedicated to teaching children, you can both stand out in a good way AND benefit from an existing well-established market.
art-K teaches children artistic skills including drawing, painting and 3D modelling. art-K believes that children need foundational artistic skills and techniques, from which they will grow in confidence and ability to express themselves creatively.
This is also a very professional and profitable business; we create a great recurring income business because we can try to retain customers over a wide age range- they never need to leave. Our systems and processes include advance payment, accepting payment by childcare vouchers and all necessary child safe-guarding policies, H&S and insurances, great sessions and high quality materials providing the context within which parents feel secure and students can thrive; all is ready for you to provide your dedicated art workshop and your personality.
What will I get?
We help with everything from location to recommending potential funding sources, from suppliers to session plans. Our manual contains the projects for students aged 6 to 18, reflecting the different dexterity and cognitive ability. Mixed age range classes means any age can join any session at any time in the term, so no student is working on the same project at the same time, creating a non-competitive environment. With no deadlines, the art teacher can encourage and help experimentation.
We also use a wide variety of different artists to inspire new ideas, from masters to modernists, forging more creativity and confidence as the students’ skills increase.
Having recently welcomed four new franchisees, art-K continues to expand through a proven model first developed for our own network of 45 directly run clubs. Together, the art-K community now supports over 7,000 students each week, employing more than 100 club leaders, and over 300 art assistants. Building creative communities across the country.
As a franchisee, your club will feature on our website’s club Locator page, which receives around 1,500 daily visits from prospective customers. From day one, you’ll receive hands-on support to launch and grow your club using our tried-and-tested formula; including the same booking software used across our network, all included within your franchise fee.
So what next?
As a great recurring revenue business, we know that running an art-K franchise is a way to help the right people to really help students, but it also creates the freedom for you to be creative, and financially successful. So, if you have a passion for art and want to work with a well established art educator, simply get in touch and we will send out some information, we can then have an exploratory conversation.
