Paint Pot has been able to gain customers through word of mouth and has never advertised once. During this time the aim was to receive just enough work to earn a decent living and it ticked over nicely.
Paint Pot has been popular in the local area and has several positive reviews (although not as many as it should have) but it has no negative reviews so is popular online also, namely on My Builder, previously on Bark and Bidvine. The Bidvine account was lost when Bidvine closed/merged with Bark but the My Builder account is still active.
Paint Pot could do with some Marketing should the new owner want to double, triple or quadruple its customer base it will have absolutely no problem doing this. Vistaprint has been the choice for printing business cards and postcards and we are happy that the logo stays the same and the account is transferred if required. Email marketing can be activated which will be very easy to do with everything in place.
Paint Pot is fully insured with Simply Business every year and the renewal is quick and easy to do. Paint Pot has recurrent customers who come back every year who are happy to keep doing so. We have customers who run B&B's and landlords who have several homes they refresh every so often, We also have some developers who have kept us busy over the years who will no doubt always have another new project needing attention.
Paint Pot has sub-contracted work out when need is rather than employ staff which has been cost-effective. Being based in Milton Keynes has been very convenient as traffic is almost non-existent and it's so easy to commute.
Paint Pot has a trade discount account with Wickes and Brewers for 10-15% off materials and tools which is very useful. The past three years accounts show net profits of between £5775 to £6300 with the current year at its highest due to subcontracting jobs standing at £27,000 gross, with roughly £14,000 as net profit.
This small business has the ability to bring in much much higher profits and income should it be worked on full time.
