Bears & Tales is a unique cocktail and wine bar situated in the highly sought after St Cuthberts area of Bedford, surrounded by lots of other independent retailers, bars and restaurants. The business is hugely respected and has been established since 2014, being the first dedicated cocktail bar in town and continuing to be the best.
We are selling due to owning three other businesses and not having enough time to focus our energy on Bears & Tales. It has always run as a side business by itself but has much more potential than we have time. We vowed to sail the business through Covid and had another sale fall through during the last 12 months at an increased offer, but we feel it's now time for us to move on as we look towards the end of the pandemic.
The bar is fitted out in high-quality furnishings and fittings and is tailor-made for someone with passion and drive to take it to another level. Pre-covid, we ran highly successful comedy and live music events, as well as food pairing evenings with other local food outlets. We've diversified during the last 12 months, setting up a website that you can order takeaway bottles from and gone fully digital with our booking and ordering systems, decreasing our staff levels. There is plenty of scopes to add a regular food offering (something we are currently implementing) and opening more than the three nights a week we currently do.
The bar has always been a sit-down, table service affair, with high-quality cocktails served in a nice ambience, and our service and product quality has always set us apart from the competition.
