Performance Overview

Business details

Began in 2018 as a salvage company with interest in industrial, auto, marine and aviation salvage.  We began by converting old pieces of industrial salvage into unique furniture and lighting and still have a few bits of this in stock.  We also stocked some lines of high end furniture and lighting that had a leaning towards the industrial look such as Timothy Oulton, again we have some of his furniture still in stock.

In around 2020 I was involved in our first aeroplane scrap project - we were buying plane parts to convert into furniture and this is really where GB Salvage started to take shape.

By 2021 we cut up our first entire aeroplane - a Dash8 Q400 from Exeter Airport.  The primary aim of this project was to start making glamping pods, garden office pods and entertainment pods.  Skip on 3 years and the last piece of this plane is just leaving us for a client in Eastern Europe.

Lockdown only meant more interest in our aviation salvage pieces from across the world, we've sold items to most continents in the last 5 years and have received the most staggering array of enquiries - many of which have been from serious buyers.  We also get a lot of interest in our pieces from film companies and set designers and can boast the normal array of clients including Warner Bros Studios for example.

In 2022 we embarked on our biggest project to date which was a Boeing 737 and still have most of this plane in stock.  There are 5 sections of 4m diameter 737 included in the sale of GB Salvage including the cockpit and a servicable cargo door which could generate £30 000 in itself.  An entire 737 in the UK would normally start at around £70 000 to put this into context.

At present the stock value of the business is just over £200 000 at sale prices, we fully intend to negotiate and support the right buyer as part of this process.  We will include all stock, the Wordpress Website with Woo Commerce and any and all contacts that we've built up over 5 years as part of the sale.  In terms of our profits (please bear in mind this has not been my sole focus) over the last 4 years we have averaged;

-  Sales of ~£50K a year

-  Profit of ~£8K a year

-  Stock has been built from £30K sale price to over £200K at sale price

My accountant tells me this puts GB Salvage at a market value of around £230K, I've set the sale price at £180K to demonstrate that we are realistic and serious sellers.

The reason for sale is 'other business interests' I have to concentrate on my main business and GB salvage really deserves someone's full attention.  GB Salvage could be a really exciting accquisition for someone with an interest in planes, salvage or just the runing of a unique small business that generates interest and discussion wherever we go.  I think there is very significant profits to be generated if someone had the time and energy to put into the business that I have never really had.
