Our fancy dress, costume rental and dancewear business is a thriving business at the heart of the local community and also serves a much wider area, since other similar shops are few and far between. We have built up several important relationships with local dance and drama schools, as well as catering for local school costume days and productions, private parties and all key events throughout the year (book week, Halloween, festivals, Christmas and New Year celebrations, to name but a few).
There are essentially three parts to our business - dance and gymnastics clothing shoes and accessories, fancy dress for sale, and costume hire.
We supply dance uniform for all local dance schools and the main exam boards. We are well known across the city and the wider surrounding areas for our expertise in fitting dancewear and dance shoes. We have two changing rooms, allowing customers to try on clothing. We also have an area where customers can try on shoes.
We have around 800 rental costumes. Hiring costumes is very popular, for sustainability and environmental reasons among others.
The business is seasonal, with peaks at the start of school terms, Book Week, Halloween, Christmas and New Year.
The shop is located to the north side of St Albans, only 10 minutes by car from the city centre, in a popular row of shops with free parking outside.
