Galloway Hire Tools is one of Dumfries and Galloway’S leading independent Lawn & Garden Machinery stores, established over 45 years ago, specialising in the sale, repair and hire of machinery and power tools based in Dumfries. This business has an outstanding reputation for customer service and is very proud to be an Approved STIHL and Husqvarna dealer.

The business has a loyal base of repeat and regular customers both domestic and commercial. Based in a secure yard with a showroom, workshop and additional storage building the landlord is happy to negotiate a lease to suit the new business owners. Turnover declared in the most recent accounts is £531,000 and has shown a rising turnover and profits over recent years.

The owners have carefully selected brands that perform well and offer value for money as well as being machines and products that give many years of good reliable service. We stock a wide range of STIHL and HUSQVARNA products – from chainsaws to hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, lawnmowers, iMows, Automowers, strimmers, pressure washers, cement mixers, ride-on lawn tractors, PPE and accessories, plus much more.

Our friendly expert staff are always ready to answer any questions, take the time to understand customer needs and what they are looking for and go through all available options with them. We have exceptional customer care and the best STIHL and HUSQVARNA advice and prices in the area.

All STIHL and HUSQVARNA machines undergo an inspection before they leave our store, they are prepared and ready for use and we run through how to use the machine(s) safely to ensure customers are confident with the new purchase before they leave the store.

In addition to the power tool and machinery sales, we provide repairs, servicing and hire facilities at our shop and workshop based in Dumfries, and we repair and service all makes and models of machinery not just specific to the brands we sell.

We stock and sell spares. We also hire out a wide range of machinery in the same line that we sell and in addition wacker plates, tow-behind chippers, wallpaper strippers, carpet cleaners, vacuum cleaners, breakers, generators, dehumidifiers, ladders, rotavators, floor sanders, stone saws, turf cutters, etc.

This is a very successful small family business with three employees (2 sales-staffing the showroom/store/counter and collecting and delivering machines and one workshop-experienced mechanic who is proficient in servicing and maintaining a diverse range of customers' machines throughout the year) with both partners also working in the business (1 on sales/accounts and another partner in workshop/imow installations).

Since the current owners purchased in 2007 the business has gone from strength to strength and are selling their business as a going concern as they now wish to retire.
