I am looking to sell my online skip business 24/7 Direct Skips Ltd (Webiste). The business model is that of a "brokerage" whereby customers can enter their postcode on the homepage of the website and then order and pay for a skip online in just a few minutes. The business then "outsources" that order to a local skip supplier - profiting from the difference in the prices we buy and sell at.
Currently the website is setup for 3-4 counties (In the South of England) however this is easily scalable due to a separate admin portal which has also been created to add/update counties, postcodes and prices. The business offers customers 4x choices of skip sizes,4yd,6yd,8yd and 12yds as these are inherently standard across most skip suppliers. It is also possible to setup (via the admin panel) alternative prices for different types of waste i. E. Hardcore, Plasterboard, Wood etc.
The business has only officially been trading since the 1st May 2021 but has already processed 20 orders (proving the concept works) - via a mixture of Google ads, Facebook Ads, calls and referrals. However due to personal circumstances, and also realising that moving forwards the website will require regular SEO work to be done - the truth is I just don't have time for this and in all honesty I don't wan't to invest further money into the business when my intention is to sell anyway. I would much prefer for someone with a keen interest in this type of business model to do it their OWN way and to drive the business forward however they see fit. Someone with SEO experience or who knows someone who can add value in this way would be ideal (in my opinion) as the ability to attract new customers cheaply will ultimately determine what level of success this business will achieve. Similar companies (not even covering the whole of the UK) achieve upwards of 50 orders per day!
The key to this business/business model is to find the "price-point" in terms of how much does it cost to generate a new customer vs overall profit on a skip order. 90-95%% of all orders will be one-off orders. These customers will typically be residential homeowners looking to hire a skip on their property for 1-2 weeks on their driveway etc.
The potential for this business is VERY sizeable (hence why I originally decided to set it up) - given the fact that it can operate (with future scale and development) across the entire UK. Further relationships with Skip suppliers will need to be established, and favourable skip prices will need to be negotiated in order to make healthy room for profit. As stated, it is the SEO work and google ad conversion (cost per conversion) that is the key to riches here. Getting that right will determine ongoing and future success. There are of course a couple of areas to consider in terms of business protection (i. E adequate insurances and strong t&cs etc) but for the right buyer with the right ambition and vision, these shouldn't pose any issue.
The website/booking system has been developed for both Desktop and Mobile Devices - allowing customers to book a skip following a simple five step booking process. They then receive an confirmation email once the hire has been made.
If interested, please feel free to get in contact. I am happy to have a conversation with individuals who are serious about buying the business and are able to move quickly in terms of due diligence and funding any potential purchase.
