This is a business that primarily supplies custom rugby clothing to clubs and teams. The range includes match, training and leisure wear. The clubs and teams supported include regular customers and the business has a strong relationship with a high quality factory in Pakistan.
The factory in Pakistan has excellent sublimation capability as well as the ability to make custom clothing in a range of fabrics. So as a result of this relationship the business can, very easily, supply other sports and has already done so with Netball and Golf.
Revenue has been in decline for a number of years due to competition, lack of investment and, if we are honest, general lack of enthusiasm. It reached a high of £250,000 in 2011 and last year revenue was £125,000. But costs and liabilities have been reduced to almost zero and profit opportunities are now healthy. So there are no salary, rent or rates liabilities and there are no debts.
Some minor investments in marketing (on-line and direct contact), an on-line kit designer, on-line ordering & a website upgrade would improve revenues very quickly. The business is eligible for a government bounce back loan, which based on last year’s revenues, could be as much as £30,000 which would easily finance the investments mentioned above. This scheme finishes con November 20th.
As a business run from home it would certainly support someone keen to start their own business without the pressure of inheriting a significant cost base which in the current trading climate is a real advantage. In this context the ideal purchaser would be someone who has a keen interest in sport including rugby but also has graphic design skills. Even with an on-line kit designer there is a regular demand for new and original kit designs.
Or, it would be of interest to an established print and embroidery business that would like to move into the supply of sublimated kit across a wide range of sports. For them it would provide access to a very reliable factory for the sublimation, a strong brand with a unique URL and an established customer base. This would provide the purchaser with an opportunity to run on-line shops for clubs which provide the full range of club kit. For them it would be a real growth opportunity.
Due to the impact of Covid 19 revenues this year are significantly reduced. So this is an opportunity to acquire a business that is ready to benefit from the pent up demand for kit that will be building while sports club activity is constrained. Therefore any sensible offers will be given serious consideration.
