We have built a continued returning client base which continues to grow. We have great relationships with other local businesses, and have really embodied the independent spirit that thrives in the area. We have been a proud part of the Independent Birmingham scene since it's launch around 4 years ago, and though Joe's (owner of Independent Birmingham) business has gathered huge database, he holds us in high regard and visits as a customer very regularly, posting his visits on social media which always increases our social media following.

We advertise via social media and have built up a fully organic (non paid for) following over Facebook Twitter and Instagram, with more than 4000 page likes and followers combined. we have a rapport with every one who has contacted us via all platforms, which through word of mouth has really helped us promote the business.

We took the decision around 12 months ago to open 7 days a week, opening Monday to Friday 7:30am until 16:00pm, Saturday 9:00 until 15:00 and Sunday 10:00 am until 14:00pm
The shorter opening hours on the weekend are not to be underestimated in a turnover sense, We can often a higher turnover during the 4 hours on a Sunday as any other day of the week. We head up the Sunday brunch scene in the area and often have a queue outside before opening up.

There is a small amount of competition in the area by means of a small cafe at the end of the street, this opened around 2 years ago. We thought they may have an impact on our business but the standard of our shop fit and the quality of goods we are providing sets us apart from the competition. There arrival only spurred us on to be even better, which the staff also responded to and the results have showed.

We currently employ 8 staff, something which I've been extremely proud of. The chance to give genuinely good people the chance to earn is something I will look back on fondly when it becomes time to move on.
There is 4 full time staff and 4 part time staff. The part time staff are students, I am currently looking at 1-2 more staff to help cover for the upcoming busy christmas period.
There is 2 fully menu trained kitchen staff who also bake our homemade cakes.
All of the front of house staff are trained to make coffee to the highest standard and can cover every role required for a front of house service.
3 staff are key holders to the business and can be trusted to cash up, lock up and open the store in the absence of the owner.

If I was to stay on in the business, I feel there is a number of ways to generate more income. The increasingly popular delivery services are one way that we have considered, but feel that we are busy enough without hiring more staff to cope with the extra orders. Although we are "present" on the social media platforms this is another area that could be expanded on, posting more and investing more time in his area would definitely increase awareness. There is also a market for doing special evening events, tapas for example. The landlord has also agreed that he is happy for alcohol to be served from the store should perspective buyers obtain a premises license and hold a personal license, This is something that again be a huge step forward in pushing the business forward.

Should perspective buyers wish for the business owner to stay on during a transitional period, I am willing to do so, and the length of time is fully negotiable.
