We briefly sold our hats for £37 each, and cost us £13 each landed in the UK. Our inventory is now being offered at a heavy discount in the interest of a quick sale. At our listing price, the hats work out at around £5 each, so there is the potential for someone to make a healthy profit, even if discounting them.
Online retail was an experiment for us (our core business is in professional services), and we are going to focus on what we are better at! We kicked off this project in the depths of CV19 when our core business was at standstill. Ultimately, it took nearly 2 years to get our hats to market, by which time, our core business had recovered and was actually experiencing a real book.
The rising cost of Facebook ads after the iOS privacy update meant we were going to need to be doing much more organic marketing than we were. We just couldn't prioritise this over our core, very profitable, business and, as such, put this down to a learning curve and closed the website shortly after launching, before we'd invested much in online marketing.
On the plus side, this is a blank canvas for someone. On the downside, we have no real sales history to share with you as it was over as soon as it started.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with an aptitude for eCommerce, or someone with access to boutique women's retailers who could re-sell these hats.
Our range of hats was designed by the former Head of Womenswear at the internationally recognised, New Era Caps (based in LA). The hats are produced to a high-standard in China.
All inventory is currently stored in Essex and can be collected/delivered.
