All steaks served in the restaurant are sourced from the local butchers, from the rich and fertile pastures of the North East. This unique partnership gives the steaks complete traceability. The steaks are hung for a minimum of 21 days, allowing for the beef to mature for taste and tenderness, before being cut and trimmed to create the perfect steak. The steaks are seared on a char grill and cooked to individual requirement. They are seasoned simply with salt and black pepper and topped with butter, because steaks this good need nothing else.
The café has been trading since the 1940’s, originally owned by an Italian family who made their own delicious ice cream, from a traditional family recipe. It is fondly remembered by locals and tourists alike, who still frequent the café on a regular basis.
