It is one of the UK's leading publishers of cross stitch booklets and chart packs, for hundreds of designs for cross stitch kits. They are also a UK distributor of Mill Hill beads, treasures, publications and kits, wooden bar frames, craft frames and other needlecraft accessories. The company’s 300 plus products can be used for many art, craft and needlework uses. Cross stitch and lace are the most popular use of the products and to further capitalise on that market, the company has over 100 cross stitch kits and 194 design publications, all produced in-house, and all using the company’s own products.
The current directors took over the business in 2007 and have invested significantly on developing the existing website to provide e commerce which is near completion. The majority of manufacturing processes are now sub-contracted and the directors are currently looking to outsource the remaining manufacturing processes with funding support from local agencies. Additional funding has been obtained from the University of Central England to support design innovation.
The company has established a strong brand name both within the UK and overseas. On of the leading multiples is a major customer and accounts for circa 30% of the sales. During recent years the marketplace has changed significantly with wholesale to trade diminishing. This has resulted in a reducing turn-over, which the Vendor is working hard to reverse through improved web presence, marketing initiative and direct retail to the general public.
