WAYS FOR A BUYER TO TAKE THE BUSINESS TO A HIGHER LEVEL:
WORKING WEEK - Due to the demands of three children under 4, we cannot devote a traditional standard shop week to the business. Since day 1 we have closed on Mondays and done half day on Wednesday and Saturday. If the shop were open a full five days per week, or, better still, six days, it would yield a much higher turnover.
MOT - There is a big demand for on-site MOTs. Presently we MOT test customers' scooters off site. If someone were to buy this business who already owns or has on-site access to an MOT station, a great deal more workshop revenue could be captured.
ADVERTISING - Presently we do no advertising. Other than our website and ebay sales activties, all our business comes from internet searching, word-of-mouth and reputation, existing customers and people visiting the shop. We have never advertised in the classic scooter magazine - Scootering, purely because we have never felt the need. Scootering has a large readership and an advert in it would yield a lot more sales. This would be a way of increasing turnover, if required by the business buyer. Our aim has always been to cap sales at about £70,000 p/a.
WOULD SUIT:
ENTHUSIASTS - This business would best suit someone or a partnership interested in the classic scooter scene. It is a very interesting area to work in and classic scooterists are very friendly and down-to-earth people to work with.
MAN and WIFE TEAM - Where both could work the shop on a daily basis. Ideally, one of the two would have mechanical skills. At least to the extent of light repairs and servicing. Ideally, without a very young family.
PARTNERSHIP (SALES & WORKSHOP) - Where one person runs the shop and the other runs the workshop to its full potential. At maximum workshop and shop capacity this would provide a decent income for two wage-earners.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
WHY IS IT FOR SALE:
MANPOWER - We are taking income for a family that includes two adults, even though only one person is operating the shop.
WORKLOAD - The amount of work involved in running the shop at its busiest times (with only one of us manning it), while also having a young family, is making things difficult at home.
A NEW BUSINESS - I (DW) have started a new business that builds on ten years of dabbling in computer training manuals publication. The new business (The Courseware Company; coursewareco.com) has attracted a great deal of interest in its sector and I would like to work at it full-time.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
BUSINESS ASSETS:
STOCK CONTROL / DATABASE - The business owns a comprehensive range of spare parts for a variety of models of Lambretta scooters. This has taken many years to achieve and catalogue.
PRESENTATION - A very large amount of work has been put into maintaining a high profile and excellent imagery. This has involved brochure and leaflet/flyer work, web site development and promotional work. The benefit of all this ships with the business if the business is bought. Additionally all artwork and files will be shipped with the business so the appropriate changes can be made to suit the business buyer's details and new location.
STOCK - Our range of stock covers Indian, Vietnamese, Italian and British spare parts and accessories. We have built our stock to offer choice to customers. 'much more expensive' does not always mean 'much better quality' but we like to offer alternatives. We have large amounts of rare parts and specialise in Lambretta Series 2 spare parts ('Series 2' is the largest Lambretta model growth area). | | | | | | FOR SALE | | | | | SELLER: | Confidential - Members Only | | CONTACT: | Confidential - Members Only | | REFERENCE: | 8440 / RightBiz | | ENQUIRIES: | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
