It is fully automatic, requiring operator servicing (ie adding new titles) only once per month; payments are taken by credit / debit card via the card terminal in the machine, and transaction data (and therefore payments) are transferred via the internet to the owner's bank account. Genuine reason for sale: We are retiring and moving to Devon. The kiosk's footprint is extremely small, at approximately 1 / 2 metre square, making it particularly attractive to shop managers tight for space, yet it has the capacity to hold 650 movie DVD's or Games (similar to a small dvd rental store like Blockbuster). It is wirelessly connected to the internet, so is not reliant on a physical phone connection. Customers make their movie choice via a touch screen menu, swipe their credit / debit card, and receive the movie choice via an automated door. Returns are handled in the same way. As it is fully automated, it has no reliance on the store staff, another reason why it is attractive to store managers. It has also been shown in studies to generate additional income for the store. It is attractive to movie renters because of the relatively cheap rental price (currently £1.99 per night), and the fact that no membership is required.
