It is fully automatic, requiring operator servicing (ie adding new titles) only once per month; payments are taken by credit / debit card via the card terminal in the machine, and transaction data (and therefore payments) are transferred via the internet to the owner's bank account. Genuine reason for sale: We are retiring and moving to Devon. The kiosk's footprint is extremely small, at approximately 1 / 2 metre square, making it particularly attractive to shop managers tight for space, yet it has the capacity to hold 650 movie DVD's or Games (similar to a small dvd rental store like Blockbuster). It is wirelessly connected to the internet, so is not reliant on a physical phone connection. Customers make their movie choice via a touch screen menu, swipe their credit / debit card, and receive the movie choice via an automated door. Returns are handled in the same way. As it is fully automated, it has no reliance on the store staff, another reason why it is attractive to store managers. It has also been shown in studies to generate additional income for the store. It is attractive to movie renters because of the relatively cheap rental price (currently £1.99 per night), and the fact that no membership is required. They can combine renting with a trip to buy groceries in a convenient manner, or rent on impulse. The kiosk for sale has been in its current location for 10 months and trading figures are available for this period. There are currently 288 users registered by email for updates. It is stocked with approximately 350 titles, and has been kept up to date. It is fully moveable using a small van, and would require only an electricity point in a new location (subject to a reasonable mobile phone signal for internet access). Whilst it is currently based in the Bedford area, the kiosk can easily be moved to any location of your choice (all that is needed is an electric socket! ). It is usually placed in a convenience store where there is already a decent level of footfall, but they are operating elsewhere very successfully in off licences and shopping centres, and take-aways. It is great fun to operate - it's fully automated, save for adding new film titles every month. There's no money to collect, no memberships to administer, no late fees to chase up (customers are charged on a nightly basis; if they don't bring the dvd back, after 14 days their credit card is automatically charged more than the full cost of the dvd. I have had nothing but positive feedback from customers and the store manager - everybody loves it because it is so convenient and much better value than Blockbuster or Lovefilm. It is very easy to operate and takes very little time - probably a couple of hours a month. In fact, you can put in as much or as little time as you want to, depending how much you like films. There is an operating website (www. Bedforddvd. Wordpress. Com) which has a video of how the kiosk works, and a facebook page. Background to Dvd Film Rental
There has been a massive growth of dvd rental kiosks in the US; there are now approximately 30,000 there, but they have been historically slow to catch on in the UK due to the presence of video shops on the high street. These are now in steep decline, and with the relative inconvenience of mail order rental, dvd kiosks have a massive potential. Every year in the UK, 2. 4million adults rent four or more DVDs EVERY MONTH. A further 7. 6million adults rent between one and three DVDs every month, and these figures prove that you have a substantial potential to profit by offering a convenient service to meet this consumer demand. Physical rental of movies in the UK remains the primary choice for most movie-lovers. Whilst the online market is developing, most people still prefer the benefits offered by physical rental solutions – a wide range of titles, low prices and instant access. The impulse factor is also important, the presence of a kiosk in retail store means people can decide to have a movie night on a whim. The Digital Entertainment Group, the Entertainment Merchants Association, and the Consumer Electronics Association, have concluded that physical media (dvd's) will remain the dominant home media format through at least 2015. . . | | | | | | FOR SALE | | | | | REFERENCE: | 69138 / RightBiz | | | | | | Request more information about this business.. | | ENQUIRIES: | | | | CONTACT SELLER TO GET THE SELLERS DIRECT CONTACT DETAILS AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS ONLY | | | | | | | | | | | |
