| | | | | | | BUSINESS DETAILS: | The students are mostly children and teenagers apart from two adults and are all at different stages from pre grade 1 to grade 7 (ABRSM). Most have done exams or are working towards them and enjoy doing so.
I constantly have phone calls from prospective students so the business could easily be expanded. There aren't many piano teachers in the area compared to the demand for tuition.
Any prospective buyer would need to have a Grade 8 piano qualification and be enthusiastic about teaching. Experience is desirable but not absolutely necessary as this job depends very much on your love for music and personality. Most students have to take a Grade 5 theory exam at some point so you would need to be able to teach theory up to that standard also.
The business turnover this year was £15, 000(net) but could easily be more as I take quite a lot of time off. Presently I charge £15 per half hour lesson but I give a discount for if there are two students in one home of £14 per half hour. I haven't increased my fees since September 2009 so this is something that could be thought about in the near future. Obviously the income varies because of students taking holidays but my clients are extremely regular and conscientious about paying on time. I charge them for a month's lessons in advance and if they don't give 24 hours notice they have to pay for their lesson.
I am very sad to have to leave my pupils but my husband has got a new job which requires me to leave London. My students are keen to continue their lessons and have reassured me that they are happy to have a new teacher.
As part of the change-over I would be more than willing for you to accompany me as I teach, to meet all the students and to help them feel comfortable with you continuing as their teacher. After that, I would be able to offer support for the first month at least by phone for any problems or enquiries.
