Compost Delivery Business

Midlands Compost commenced trading in April 2020, originally as Rushden Compost but due to incredible growth in the first year we rebranded as Midlands Compost to open a wider delivery area. This has been incredible, with a very strong and repeat customer base throughout the entire Midlands area (from North London to Sheffield, Gloustershire to the east coast and all areas in between and even further afield. We have regular orders from customers ordering 3 small bags each year to several nurseries ordering up to 35tonnes a number of times a year.

We have a full ecommerce website (www.midlandscompost.co.uk) as well as a very strong social media presence. The website allows easy ordering, payments, and easy processing for delivering and confirmation of a completed order.

Over the last 4 years, I have spent the time building the company to become a market leader within home delivery of PAS100 Organic Compost, Topsoil, Manure, Mulch and Decretive Bark, spending time making sure the customer experience is second to none. As a result, we have almost perfect feedback and review rating on Trustpilot, Facebook and Google. All products stocked are of the highest quality, and this is the reason behind the success of the business.

The company is running at a minimum of 50% profit on all products although this is usually above that.

I have taken the company as far as I possibly can without risking the customer experience and as much as it breaks my heart, I feel that to continue moving the company forwards and make national as its nationally growing towards. I need to sell the business to a company, individual or team who have the knowledge and experience to do this. 

I am and apart from the odd seasonal helper, friends, partner, and family, I have got this company to this level alone. Something that fills me with pride. 

The company will and is making money from day one and is increasing turnover year on year by 40%. The sale will include all stock and everything to earn money from the day the sale is completed. While the company is for sale, I will still be putting the same effort into Midlands Compost as I did from day one.

I feel Midlands Compost is in an incredible place to be the complete market leader within the industry, as we are only company of this type that deliver each order personally, meaning the customer experience is perfect at all stages. There is also the option to expand into other items and have had many people asking for other garden and building materials. There is also the option to expand in to larger bulk orders.

I currently sell all products in small 50l bags or bulk bags (1cubic meter).

As mentioned, this company is my baby and I have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this, there comes a time, that to move the company to the next level you must admit when the time is correct to sell to allow this to happen. I will be even more gutted if in a year or so I see several Midlands Compost vans driving around.

I do have the Domains for Rushden Compost, Midlands Compost and purchased UK Compost, when I started the company with the possible view of further expansion in the future and will be included in the sale.
