Business Details

Profitable Retail and Service Business

Gator Business Sales are pleased to offer for sale this well established and very profitable business.

Operating from ideal premises in East Dorset, the company sells and installs wood burners, multifuel ovens and fireplaces throughout Dorset and the surrounding counties.

The business proved to be resilient during the pandemic and has continued to grow since.  Many customers are seeking an attractive and cost-effective heating option in the wake of the significant increases in both gas and electricity prices.  Another area of growth is to individuals who now work from home as opposed to the office, and need an affordable alternative to their central heating.

The average order book is usually at or around 4 months’, but can increase to 5/6 months at particularly busy times.  This will obviously transfer to the new owner(s) and will ensure that they are trading profitably immediately after purchase.

As you would expect, the company is a HETAS registered installer.

The new owner(s) will ideally have a building or construction background, alongside sales and marketing experience.  This would allow them to replicate the current owner’s day-to-day role, and maintain or increase the impressive profitability.

Trading Hours: The showroom is open Tuesday-Saturday: 9.30am-5.00pm for confirmed appointments.  Installations are mainly carried out Monday-Friday.

Employees: The owner works full-time in the business.  Monday-Friday he is involved with the installations and at the weekends he meets with potential new clients.  He is assisted by an exceptionally competent showroom and admin manager who works full-time.  On the installation side there is an experienced fitter and a labourer.  Both are independent contractors and operate via the government CIS scheme.  Additionally the business employs further part-time assistance as and when required.

Location: The showroom is Ideally located on a main road in East Dorset, close to a busy intersection which ensures high visibility.

Premises Details: Nicely presented, double-fronted, ground floor showroom which totals approx. 57 sq m/613 sq ft.  There is customer parking directly in front of the premises.  Additionally the business leases two workshop units immediately behind the showroom.

Lease Terms: The current 7 year lease runs through until March 2024.  Total rent for the showroom and two workshops is £15,500 per annum inclusive of service charges.  We understand that the lease is contracted into the 1954 Landlord & Tenant Act which provides security of tenure.

Reason for Sale: This is a genuine retirement sale after many years of profitable ownership.
