Elnaugh & Sons was started in 1911 and is this year celebrating it’s 100th year. It was run by three generations of the same family before being sold in early 2007 to the existing owner as there was no-one to pass the business down to. The company has always had two functions, both retail and contracting.
The business is highly regarded and extremely well known in the local area due to its long history and commanding position in the town as well exposure on television.
Reason For Sale
The current owners have decided that they would like to focus on the retail side of the business and as a result they have made the decision to sell the contracting side to raise funding in order to allow them to invest the required funds to develop the retail side as necessary.
The proposal is to sell the goodwill of the contracting business to another contractor who is specialist in the domestic and light commercial market carrying out all manner of maintenance and installation works. The buyer would need to locate themselves at the current premises to enable them to react to the walk in trade and be willing to work with the current owners as a good proportion of the current business is attracted by the retail premises. With the investment planned for the retail business there is an excellent opportunity for further growth with contracting enquiries as a result.
It is envisaged that the new owner would own the right to the original business name and would be free to promote that name as they feel necessary. The retail business has already changed name and will continue to carry that name in the future.
