Since that time I have seen the business grow rapidly and have gone from strength to strength. I started with 1 machine and now have 4. The machines that I have are probably the best that can be purchased on the open market. They are all made of heavy duty high grade Stainless Steel. They have proper heavy duty geared electric 240 volt motors. Each roaster is fitted with 2 burners each producing 6KW. They use propane gas. Just 1 propane 19KG bottle will complete 2 Hog Roasts or 3-4 Lamb Roasts.
Each machine is CE approved and has a yearly Gas and Electric certificate to comply with all insurance regulations for Public Liability etc.
The company that I have purchesed all my machines from offer excellent service, in fact I have only needed to call upon them once for a replacement piece of viewing glass. (Unfortunately broken by my stupidty). Other than that I have only contacted them for New Machines! They have been 100% reliable. Not one breakdown
The business that I operate is mainly with "Operator" service, many Weddings, Commercial Promotions, Catering Companies, Birthday Parties, Anniverseries, Fayres, in fact the list is endless.
I also offer the facility to HIRE machines. This can be with a prepared Hog/Lamb or without. I have been offering a delivery service along with a Cleaning Service for the Hire part of the business.
This year alone I have carried out over 80 Roasts. I have also had to turnaway business as I do not have enough machines. The business has a marvellous name and alot of business receieved is from recommendation, something that I and my staff highly value.
The time has now come for me to think about retiring, the business has such a lot of scope for expansion and will produce a very substantial income.
This year I have been charging £450-£550 for a roast with operator. The figure varies as to the number of guests. I f I have been requested to offer additional side dishes, salads etc, these are set at £2. 70 per head
Hiring of the machines is set at £170, this includes gas enough for I roast. There is an additional mileage charge that I make when travelling beyond a 10 mile radius of my business.
To be honest, this is a real opportunity for someone to take on this business as it exists at the moment for a very good income. There is so much scope to expand this business, there are quite a few bookings for weddings etc, already booked for next year.
