BUSINESS DETAILS:

Located in the heart of the Tamworth city centre, this is the only Subway restaurant Tamworth has (population: 80000). Compared to Leicester, which has 16 Subways, and Birmingham, which has 45 at least, this Tamworth Subway enjoys a local monopoly. . . This is a successful, running business, being offered for sale. Turnover averages 5,000. However, in the middle of Summer, turnover increased to over 6,000. This Summer, the maximum achieved was 6,700. However, market research has shown that offering a home delivery service could prove very popular. It would not be unrealistic to expect over 7,000 on a regular basis if not more, with home delivery. Opening hours are Monday to Wednesday 8 am-9:00 pm. Thursday to Saturday 8 am-11:00 pm and Sunday 9 am-6 pm. There is potential to apply for a night licence from the council. This would increase business by a lot especially during Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights, when the night life becomes evident. There are 10 employees, with some part time and some full time, the cost of hiring them averages 800-900 per week. There is seating for 17 people, 5 inside, and 12 outside. There is already a licence for the seating outside, and conveniently an overhanging building provides shelter from rainy weather for those sat outside. However, the overhanging building doesn't hide the restaurant, on the contrary, it advertises the store, thanks to a huge Subway banner which advertises the store. Included in the price, will be full training by the current owner, until the new franchisee is satisfied. Complete training from how to make a good sandwich, to how to order stock from the simple to use website, how to use the till and CCTV. Absolutely everything will be covered, and even help with marketing the store effectively can be provided. No machinery is under finance, it has all been paid off by the current owner, and all the furniture, fixtures and fittings will be provided in the price. Between March 2007 and March 2008, this store's sales averaged 2,900. The store was taken over by the current owner in March 2008, since then sales have increased dramatically. This store has been open for 5 years, the highest sales in a week for this store were achieved in June this year, when sales hit 5000. A new record of 6,700 was set. And sales now average 5,000. This store wasn't well run or managed before. However, now, customer service has been improved, and thousands of pounds have been invested back into the store. For example, a new CCTV system, preventing staff fraud, costing 9000. Seating, inside and outside, costing 1000. Huge banners were printed for the outside of the store. New equipment was purchased for the staff, to keep them motivated. All this came from the profits of the store. The owner now wishes to sell the store while it is doing well, so that both parties can be satisfied. Nearby competition consists of Mcdonalds, Costa Coffee, and some local food shops. However these cannot be considered direct competitiion, as Subway is know for offering fresh and healthy Sandwiches made in front of you. The Subway brand is also very strong, with thousands spent on TV advertising per year by Subway. Products and services

Subway offer sandwiches, salad bowls, wraps, drinks, crisps and cookies. They represent roughly the following amounts in terms of percentages of turnover:

Sandwiches 75%
Drinks, crisps cookies 22%
Wraps and Salad bowls 3%

The sandwiches range from 1.30 (breakfast sub, not too popular), to 5.50 which is the price of the most expensive sandwich, a Chicken and Bacon Ranch footlong (very popular). This store participates in the central pricing scheme, where Subway sets the prices of sandwiches. However, franchisees are allowed to change the prices if they wish, and set their own prices. The products can't really be compared to other competitors as Subway is perceived to be healthier. Despite having slightly higher prices than local sandwich shops, due to the strong brand identity, and powerful advertising done with the money collected from royalties, people still seem to be willing to come to Subway, for good quality. The average money spent per customer is around 4.00. This is good, because instead of selling cheaper items, here, you don't have to overwork for your money. It's the right amount of work for the right amount of money. The unique aspects of the food that Subway offer, is that it is freshly made in front of you, and is also very healthy, which seems to be an increasing trend for many people nowadays. The recent introduction of the Reggae Reggae chicken sub proved very popular. Reggae Reggae is a sauce invented by Dragon's Den participant Levi Roots, and is therefore widely known. The contract for using that sauce has ended, however, Subway are always introducing new, inventive ideas, which seem to maintain and increase demand for the Subway brand. Do feel free to get in touch for any further information.
